The
Palmer Course was the natural first choice as the venue for the
1995 Johnnie Walker Classic. Golfing greats from the European, U.S.,
and Asian PGA Tours gathered in strength to pit their considerable
abilities against Palmer's design. Masters Champion Fred "Boom
Boom" Couples finally prevailed against an onslaught from the
likes of the world's number one player Nick Price from Zimbabwe,
Australian Greg Norman, Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam,
Vijay Singh, and Frank Nobilo, but the real winners were the throng
of knowledgable spectators, including the Philippines' premier golfer,
President Fidel V. Ramos, who delighted the array of golfing talent
on display at The Orchard.
